I accidentally noticed that the ground wire in my Polo 6R wasn’t in the best condition.

The old ground wire (part number 6R0971537E) started showing first signs of corrosion. While I could have replaced it with an identical model, I took advantage of having a different engine now and decided to go with a longer cable – similar to what was factory-fitted in the Polo 2.0 TSI.

The replacement was quick and simple – it’s one of those maintenance items where regular inspection and replacement can prevent more serious problems in the future.

As you can see in the pictures below, the old wire had already started showing signs of wear. Corrosion on the earth line can lead to car electronics problems, so it’s better not to wait until it starts causing issues.
