How to remove steering column trim from a Polo 6R
- Remove driver airbag unit
- Remove steering wheel
- Release locking l ever of steering wheel adjustment.
- Pull steering column out and press downwards.
- Release gap cover -1- from mountings.
- Release upper part of steering column trim -2- from mountings

Remove upper part of steering column trim -1-.

Unscrew 2 bolts -1- (1.5 Nm).

- Remove bolt -1- (3 Nm).
- Release l ower part of steering column trim -2- from mountings
Removal and installation of the coil connector with slip ring must be carried out with the wheels in the straight-ahead position.
Coil connector with slip ring is secured as a new part in the centre position with a cable tie.
Vehicles with ESP
Vehicles with ESP are additionally equipped with a steering angle sensor -G85-. It is fitted in a housing together with the slip ring and coil connector.
After installation work on steering column switch, basic settings for steering angle sender -G85- must be carried out.
