The kit includes a Ramair foam filter with a black powder-coated heat shield, silicone hoses, and a connecting pipe. The kit doesn’t come with an improved air duct – it’s recommended to remove the factory one and add a less restrictive option, such as the one I described in my article about air intake modification for cone filter.

A popular intake kit from Germany, manufactured by HFI/HG Motorsport/HF-Series (seemingly different brands of the same company). It replaces the factory part 6C0129607P.

The kit includes an oiled sport cone filter with Pipercross filter in a large carbon fiber housing, along with a modified air duct and intake pipe.
According to the manufacturer, just changing the filter in the Polo 6C GTI 1.8 TSI allows for an increase of 20.9 Nm / 18 HP.

Unlike VWR products, replacement parts for this system are readily available and much easier to source. However, be aware that Pipercross foam filters require frequent cleaning, which is why many users eventually switch to alternative options.
VWR Cold Air Intake for Polo 6C GTI 1.8 TSI EA888
A cold air intake kit consisting of a cone filter in an aluminum housing, silicone hose, mounting brackets, and a silicone-plastic air duct. Designed to replace the factory filter 6C0129607P.

Several users in GTI forums have reported issues with positioning the system properly. The front bumper inlet suffers from design flaws, and the lack of a flexible connector/bellows is particularly problematic. After power upgrades, the silicone air duct can be sucked in due to increased vacuum, and instead of improving airflow, it severely restricts air supply to the turbocharger (which can potentially damage the turbine). Additionally, users report heat-related deformation issues (shrinkage) and fasteners that frequently work themselves loose – likely due to the movement of the large silicone air duct:









The standard air box is actually better and provides consistent, safe airflow. The VWR kit is more about aesthetics than performance. Not recommended for builds targeting 400+ HP.

Some UK-based websites offer alternative air ducts for this system, suggesting that the manufacturer themselves recognized the issues with their original design.
A revised version of the air duct is available for an additional $75.60, featuring a narrower, shorter design with a supposedly more rigid construction.
