Air Intake Modification for Cone Filter
The modification involves replacing the factory air duct with a duct of larger cross-sectional area, typically without an additional air guide – as the cone filter is placed directly behind the duct.
These modifications make sense in sport-tuned Polos when someone is aiming for much more than 350HP or is simply a connoisseur of the sound of air being drawn in by the cone filter.
Air Guide from Audi S1
Instead of the standard and restrictive air guide from the Polo 6C GTI, an air guide from the Audi S1 has been installed.

CRN Motorsport Air Guide for Polo 1.8 TSI / 2.0 TSI with Cone Filter
Something for cone filter enthusiasts – an air guide that directs air straight to the pipe terminated with a cone filter, for example from the RAMAIR kit.
Compatible engines: DAJA, DAJB, CDLJ, CAVE, CTHE

Air Guide for Cone Filter in Polo 6C 1.8 TSI
Design by Jonathan Thomas from the Polo 6R/6C GTI Owners Club. The operating principle is the same as above: the air duct provides cold air flow directly to the cone filter.
This is an element missing from the Ramair kit, also useful with other similarly constructed cone filters.

Modified Air Guide + Heat Shield for 6C GTI 1.8 TSI Cone Filter
This solution uses a hybrid combination of a modified air channel for the standard filter in 1.8TSI, but instead of the upper housing, thermal walls with additional gasket covering sharp endings are used. The cone is not covered from the top, but theoretically, this should also allow it to catch air circulating under the hood.
Materials used:
- 1.5mm thick aluminum sheet, size 150x700mm (metals4u.co.uk)
- rubber protective strip for edges (ebay.co.uk)
