One day on the German motor-talk forum I found info that the latest Polo AW (model year 2019) in the rear armrest has a double USB charger installed.

Also new Golf 7.5 has similar double USB charging port in rear:

In Polo AW there is basic version of armrest, and version with painted armrest cover (probably in more expensive version such as Highline).
Below more photos:

On the motortalk I saw that one guest from Germany added a white LED to slightly illuminate the USB ports:

Armrest in earlier Polo AW MY 2018 has no USB:

Since 06.08.2018 there is available newer type of Polo AW armrest – with double USB charging ports: 6F0863289A.
It comes in two finishes: “Titan black” and “Ceramic”.

But the finish is not important, after all, I only want double USB ports for my Polo 6R 🙂
Hole is similar to this from Sharan 7N 2016 (7N0863289):

but it’s also not possible to fit this in Polo 6R.
There was no info about it, I found several auctions from ebay where a used USB socket cost more than a new one, so I ordered a new socket with a connector from my local VW/Audi dealer.
After a few days I picked up the order:2G0 035 954 (2G0035954) — VW Polo AW 2019MY double USB charging port (2.0A)
price: 144,67 PLN

8K0 973 754 B (8K0973754B)Once I received the USB charger, I made several attempts of fit the socket to the cover of the Polo 6R armrest:

but it didn’t look so good…
At first I wanted to mount it upside down, but later I thought it was strange (because I’m used to putting the pendrive to laptop with the logo on top).
However, after talking with benzinkopf, I realized that the first idea with a 180deg rotated socket is good. Anyway this socket is to be used as a charger, so I will not connect a pendrives and other devices there.
So, going back to the first idea, there is enough space here to fit USB sockets together with the 12V socket (such as iichel or ciclo has installed some time ago).

6R0 862 531 A 82V (6R0862531A 82V)An attempt to find a place to install new USB and 12V sockets:

Nevertheless, do we currently need a 12V socket? In Polo I never even used the front 12V socket, so I immediately skipped installing the socket in rear armrest. Will install it later, but in the trunk. 😉
Next idea:

time for measurements…
