Engine Cover Difference: Scirocco vs Polo

Below I present photos from the engine compartment with the old cover, and on the right the latest existing cover that was in the Polo 6R.

VW Scirocco R / Golf 6 R

In the Scirocco and Golf, the intake was rather oddly integrated together with the engine cover – just like in the slightly older Leon and Audi S3 8P. Besides the fact that this cover is, in my opinion, ugly and has the MAF sensor in a different location (closer to the turbine), there isn’t really an option to connect a larger air filter box – such as the one in the Audi A1 2.0 TSI/TDI, Seat Ibiza 2.0 TDI, or Polo 6R 2.0 TSI.

Engine Cover from Audi A1 Quattro

As you can see in the photos above, the engine compartment in the Polo is practically identical to the Audi A1 Quattro:

The exception is the full cover 06F103925J in the Audi A1, instead of Volkswagen’s smaller cover 06F103925K. I don’t really like the 2.0 TSI cover from VW used in the Polo – it reminds me of the cover from my former 1.4 engine. Unfortunately, there is no full cover that covers both the ignition coils and the intake manifold, which is why I ultimately plan, like most EA113 owners, to install the cover from the Audi A1/TTS.
