Installation of a budget garage door opener – EcoStar Liftronic 500 by Hormann

At first, I didn’t even assume that I would have electricity in the garage straight away, so when ordering the garage I opted for the door option with an external handle (the cost of handle for sectional door is about 250 PLN), but then it turned out that for just over 500 PLN you can buy a garage door operator complete with 2 remote controls.

Firstly I went in through the back door and then, once the power was on, I immediately set about fitting an EcoStar Liftronic 500 by Hormann kit. This was the cheapest ready-made gate kit at the time, there was also a slightly faster lifting gate model 700 and then a lot more expensive models. My door is only 2.5 m wide, so according to the specifications the lowest model from EcoStar was quite sufficient.

Edit: the gate operator has been running smoothly for about 6 years now, so for the time being I don’t see any point in replacing it with a better model. Some people have written in the reviews that the big disadvantage is the 3 metre rail, which is made up of 4 parts so it can bend. As you can see from me – when assembled correctly everything works ok, without any bracing (at my place even some wires go on this rail… :D).
