1.8T oil filter bracket with additional cooler

As I don’t know any mechanics at all, I decided to rely on the knowledge of others. For this purpose, I read a lot of forums posts about what can be improved in the EA113 engine. This is how I found the info obut this modification: changing the oil filter housing to the 1.8T one. After this mod, the old, cheap and plastic oil filter housing is replaced by normal one, with the options for additional oil coolers (with the possibility of easy connection of next cooler in the future).

From factory the Polo 6R WRC Street has a plastic filter housing 06F115397H like all cars with 2.0 TSI engine:

The MK4 1.8T (06A) block has many advantages over the MK5 2.0T (06F) block. Most high horsepower builds tend to convert the front oil filter housing to the MK4 metal style with an adapter plate and remove the MK5 balance shaft assembly in favor of the 1.8t oil pum”


According to description from URO TUNING:

When installing a girdle kit or simply converting your 2.0T FSI (belt driven) engine to use the 06A oil pump, it is required to use the 06A oil filter housing. This is because the FSI engines have the oil check valves built in to the factory oil pump/balance shaft assembly , whereas the 06A pump does not. This kit can only be used in applications using an 06A oil pump. Each plate has water and oil provisions on the side, which can be used for an oil cooler or blocked off with the supplied plugs.

One of the most common upgrades for the 2.0 TFSI engine is converting from the problematic oil pump to that of the earlier generation 06A engines. Even though we offer a solution that deletes the balance shafts (2.0 TFSI Balance Shaft Delete Kit) we also have a solution that will allow the user to convert to the 1.8T oil pump. The 1.8T 06A oil pump conversion requires deleting/capping the high pressure oil return channel in the block . By capping the high pressure oil return channel , the plastic OEM 2.0 TFSI oil filter housing is now inadequate to return excess oil (oil pressure) back to the oil pan. This adapter plate allows the use of the 1.8T oil filter housing (which has a built in spring loaded pressure valve) onto a 2.0 TFSI 06F block.

When removing the oil pump module of your 2.0T FSI (belt driven) engine to use the 06A oil pump, it is required to use this 06A oil filter housing.
This is because the TFSI engines have the oil check valves built in to the factory oil pump/balance shaft assembly. This kit can only be used in applications using an 06A oil pump.  Will fit only transvers engines like Golf MK5, 6 and Audi A3 base.

The filter base from 1.8T engines is made of aluminum and looks much more solid.

1.8T (06A) oil filter bracket with cooler

New 2.0L TFSI Oil Filter Housing from 1.8T costs about 206 EUR, but its just piece of aluminum, so I decided to buy used one, with genuine cooler for 144 PLN / 31 EUR:

2.0L TFSI EA113 Oil Filter Adapterplate

To install 1.8t oil filter bracket in 2.0 T FSI EA113 engine you need to use special adapterplate. You can buy it on many American websites with parts to 2.0 TFSI and on the German BAR-TEK Motorsport store. I bought mine on the BAR-TEK website.

Adapter for water pipe heat exchanger

Because my oil filter bracket had additional cooler I need to use adapter for water pipe heat exchanger.

Fortunately, David, the person who deals with my engine managed to buy such an adapter in a local store, thanks to which I didn’t have to import this from abroad (currently because of corona some shipments go for a very long time…).
