How to remove wiper arms from a Polo 6R

According to ELSA, the special uller tool -T10369- is recommended to be used to extract the wiper arms. When browsing the internet, however, you can find many instructions showing that it is not necessary to use any tools to extend the arms of the wipers in VW cars.

Puller -T10369-

  • Lever off the cover caps -arrows- using a suitable screwdriver.
  • Remove securing nuts -arrows-.
  • Slide legs of puller -T10369/1–2- under wiper arm -4- as shown in the illustration.
  • Turn thrust bolt -1- of puller clockwise until thrust piece -3- comes into contact with wiper shaft. Turn thrust bolt -1- of puller clockwise using a 6 mm Allen key until wiper arm -4- is loosened off shaft.
  • Remove puller and wiper arm.

1 – Joint-free wipers

2 – Wiper arms

3 – Cap

4 – Wiper arm securing nut to linkage

  • 20 Nm

5 – Wiper frame securing bolts with linkage to body

  • 8 Nm

6 – Rubber bush

7 – Wiper frame with linkage

8 – Rubber grommet in bulkhead

9 – Wiper motor -V- with wiper motor control unit -J400-

Not illustrated

  • Wiper motor securing bolts to wiper frame with linkage – 9 Nm
  • Wiper motor crank to wiper motor shaft – 18 Nm
