How to remove air filter housing from a Polo 6R

Depending on the engine, it may be necessary to remove the air filter eg. for Climatronic retrofit.

4-cylinder injection engine (1.4 l engine, BiFuel)

  • Press latches -arrows- and pull air intake connecting piece out of intake air duct.
  • Pull hose -1- off non-return valve.
  • Pull air filter housing upwards off locating pins -2-.

Assembly overview – air filter

1 – 3 Nm

2 – Air filter upper part

3 – Seal

4 – Non-return valve

5 – Hose

  • To camshaft housing.

6 – Intake hose

  • With intake connection.

7 – Spring-type clip

  • Remove and install using hose clip pliers -VAS 6340- or spring-type clip pliers -VAS 5024A-

8 – Seal

9 – Rubber grommet

10 – Air filter lower part

11 – Filter element


4-cylinder injection engine (eg. 1.2 l direct injection engine, turbocharger)

You don’t need to remove it to retrofit Climatronic ; -)

  • Unscrew securing bolts -arrows- of intake air duct and inlet connection on turbocharger.
  • Pull off vacuum hose -1- beneath intake hose.
  • Remove securing bolt -2-.
  • Pull air filter housing upwards.
