Removing steering column trim

• Remove driver airbag unit
• Remove steering wheel
• Release locking l ever of steering wheel adjustment.
• Pull steering column out and press downwards.
• Release gap cover -1- from mountings.
• Release upper part of steering column trim -2- from mountings

Remove upper part of steering column trim -1-.

Unscrew 2 bolts -1- (1.5 Nm).

• Remove bolt -1- (3 Nm).
• Release l ower part of steering column trim -2- from mountings

Removal and installation of the coil connector with slip ring must be carried out with the wheels in the straight-ahead position.
Coil connector with slip ring is secured as a new part in the centre position with a cable tie.

Vehicles with ESP
Vehicles with ESP are additionally equipped with a steering angle sensor -G85-. It is fitted in a housing together with the slip ring and coil connector.
After installation work on steering column switch, basic settings for steering angle sender -G85- must be carried out.

13 – hexagon socket head panel bolt, 4,2X16

21 – round-head screw with inner hexagon socket head, M5X16
