Steering-wheel cruise control in the Polo 6R (PQ25) – installation

This post covers my installation of the CCS emulator in my Polo 6R. If you’re looking for how the emulator works and why wiring up the CCS buttons natively doesn’t work on PQ25, read this first: Steering wheel cruise control in Polo 6R (PQ25) – CCS emulator.

CCS emulator – what is it and where to get it?

On the Polo 6R, like other cars on the PQ25 platform, controlling cruise control from the steering wheel doesn’t work – but MaDwArLoCk found a solution: the CCS emulator.

Steering wheel and cruise control buttons

I don’t like the newer steering wheels, so I’m sticking with mine with the round airbag – it’s my favourite of all the VW wheels. It doesn’t have touch buttons and it isn’t the newest, but in my opinion it fits the Polo 6R interior perfectly.

5G0959442M buttons with a Cancel button

For the older-type steering wheel I used 5G0959442M buttons with a ‘Cancel’ button in the centre:

Worth noting: the 5G0959442M buttons (from the Golf) have white backlighting, while the 2G0959442M buttons (from the Polo) use red LEDs. Which variant you choose comes down to preference and your interior styling.

Old buttons without CCS: 1K8959442

I used to run plain buttons without CCS: 1K8959442 – found in the Polo 6C, Scirocco and similar.

Installation – Michel in action

I bought the emulator from Slavik and it just sat in a box with my other bits and pieces until Michel came over. While he was at my place, Michel decided to fit the CCS for me – after all, he’d done it many times before 🙂
