When I took the wheel bearing housings out of the Polo, I noticed that apart from them quite a few other parts were already rusted. So I decided to dismantle everything that was rusty, then paint it and bolt it together using new nuts and bolts.
As usual, lots of photos – but this will make it easier for me to put it back together 🙂

You can see a lot of rust on the front subframe mounting ears (expertly, these is the ‘assembly carrier’) – probably a lot of snow and slush with salt accumulated there during the winter:







































Before returning the parts for painting, I cleaned everything roughly:













Next part: front axle suspension components repainted
